Direction of Arrival

Each station with at least three directional antennas is able to dereive the direction of the origin of the signal and with it the animal. There are different possebilities:

  • only one antenna receives the signal: the heading of that antenna is a really rough estimation of the direction of arrival (DOA)
  • two antennas receive the signal: by comparing the signal strengths the DOA can be derived
  • three or more: basically just take the two with the strongest signal strengths and check if they are neighboring, if not… check details below
