Each station with at least three directional antennas is able to dereive the direction of the origin of the signal and with it the animal. There are different possebilities:
- only one antenna receives the signal: the heading of that antenna is a really rough estimation of the direction of arrival (DOA)
- two antennas receive the signal: by comparing the signal strengths the DOA can be derived
- three or more: basically just take the two with the strongest signal strengths and check if they are neighboring, if not… check details below
